This is THE ultimate player’s horn. This bari is an absolute tank and a warhorse, so we left the character of the vintage bare brass finish alone and instead turned our focus to giving this bari every modification a player could dream of. It came to us after gracing stages around the world, being well-loved and well-worn by pro players. Now, it’s fast like a racecar, tight, ergo-dynamic, and comfortable like your best fitting pair of shoes.
The beefy low end is fat and rich and really honks when you tell it to. A lot of that is thanks to the addition of the Alpha Key, which replaced the clunky Low A with a direct connection from the touch piece all the way to the pad cup. The redesigned touch piece allows your thumb to roll down to activate the smoothest, most reliable Low A available with no lost motion, no squish, and no leaks.
We added every modification to make the instrument and keywork solid, sturdy, and reliable, such as side key contacts, G and B contacts, side E guide, alt F# hinge tube cradle, a custom bell-to-body brace, custom top crook brace, custom underside neck brace, new neck tenon and receiver, a custom beefy strap ring, a MusicMedic Comfort Rest thumb hook, and an expandable teflon ball octave rocker.
The stack keys feel very natural under your hands. We replaced the pearls with anodized black aluminum key touches which have angles in all the right places. The Bis Bb key is moved up next to B so you can easily activate it. Ryanite Palm Key Risers put the palm keys in a great location (but are easily removable as well). The Front F is modified with very comfortable old school su-gru epoxy. The left hand pinky table is set up with precision and it’s easy to slide from C# to B and B to Bb without gaps to get stuck in. Low C and Eb allow the right hand pinky to glide just as easily.
The Uberhaul was completed using Chocolate RooPads with Gold Domed Resonators, Gold Plated Needle Springs, and all synthetic key materials for long lasting, solid, and quiet keywork.
The bare brass body has never been buffed and the bare brass is coated with protective wax to prevent tarnishing. Additional engraving was added to the bow and body tube. From a distance, this may just look like a vintage MKVI Low A bari, but once you feel the difference, you’ll know this special horn is better than new and ready to hit the stages again for many many years to come.
Comes with a Walt Johnson case in great condition!
