The Neck Enhancer works on all models of saxophones and mouthpieces and is easily removed. The enhancer can be used with the mouthpieces of different chamber diameters by merely changing the O ring. It automatically adjusts itself to the optimum position. Just insert and play! We have used the neck enhancer most effectively in our shop on vintage instruments where the player uses a modern mouthpiece and has intonation and response issues.

We asked Steve Goodson to describe how the neck enhancer works:

"We all know that the neck is the 'heart' of the saxophone's sound, but it is also the #1 source of problems and limitations for players. Simply slide the enhancer into the shank of your mouthpiece as far as it will easily go, and it will increase the velocity of the air stream entering the neck. This will improve projection and increase the dynamic range. It will add much needed mass to the point where the neck is the thinnest, evening out the timbre and response. It will eliminate the "cliff" which occurs where the mouthpiece chamber contacts the neck. This cliff causes turbulence which results in low end warbling and wasted kinetic energy. This is the most cost effective improvement you can make to your horn! If you want to increase volume, even out the timbre, decrease resistance, and PROJECT to the back of the room this easy to install enhancer is for you!

I have been working on this project since 1998. It took lots of trial and error to find the optimum venturi angle, wall thickness, and tube length. The enhancer is manufactured in the USA and is machined from solid brass stock. I am very happy that we have been able to bring a well researched accessory to the saxophone world, especially one that works this well!"
