On Sunday morning I got on a plane to Australia. I step off of the plane on Tuesday! I am headed to the first Australian NAPBIRT conference, which I am very excited about! In fact, I am so excited to be visiting beautiful Australia that I added a few days before and after the conference to my stay. If you are in or near Surfers Paradise in Queensland, let me know! I'd love to meet up with you! You are also invited to attend the clinic I give at NAPBIRT. I will be teaching a group of technicians to improve their work by streamlining their repair process and adding tuning and toning techniques to what they do.
From Australia I will travel to Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam to meet my good friends at the Tenon factory. Tenon is a large instrument manufacturing company. If you haven't heard of them yet, you should go check them out at http://www.music-tenon.com/.
Personally, I met Jerry from Tenon years ago at a NAMM show in Anaheim, California. While I was playing a variety of saxophones from different manufacturers, I came across one that I had never heard of before and that ended up being my favorite. It was one of Jerry's creations and we have kept in touch ever since. His company has grown over the years and they now supply major manufacturers. They also have an excellent student line called Château. I am very much looking forward to exchanging ideas with the people from Tenon and having a chance to discuss all the questions we have for each other.
If anyone is in or around Ho Chi Minh City, look me up! I intend to spend several days at the factory working with and sharing ideas with the people at Tenon. Then I have 4 days with nothing scheduled, but I plan to have enough Vietnamese currency to rent a moped and head out into the country. I may have extra room on my moped for ya! G' Day Mates, Có một ngày tuyệt vời, and I'll see you soon!
