I'm getting ready to head out for my last big trip of the spring. I'm off to one of my favorite cities in China, Beijing, to participate in the PALM Expo 2015, the 24th China International Exhibition on Pro Audio, Light, Music & Technology. The expo takes place from May 21- 24. Come visit our booth if you're going! 1B103.
Beijing is special to me because it is a “melting pot” of sorts, in some ways reminiscent of New York City. There, I have found incredible varieties of foods, dialects, and people's dispositions. There are lots of small instrument factories that are located near the city of Beijing and many of these factories do not participate in larger shows, like the one in Shanghai.
There is a huge variety of beautiful traditional instruments displayed at the expo, with many variations of stringed instruments, flutes, and percussion that are unique to China. I particularly enjoyed trying out a Sheng, which resembles a harmonica with many little pipes and a bell!
I'll be sharing a booth with my friends from Chateau, and I'm really looking forward to seeing their latest saxophones. These guys are great people and their work is very good.
Following the expo and a few visits to friends and some factories, I'll be concluding my very hectic spring travel schedule. I'm looking forward to spending my summer with my family in beautiful Wilmington, North Carolina, as well as delving into some exciting projects at MusicMedic.com and the Sax ProShop!
