The 2016 U.S. Navy Band's International Saxophone Symposium is coming up this week in Winchester, VA at Shenandoah Conservatory and the Patsy Cline Theater on Friday January 16 and Saturday January 17. This year is completely jam packed! We will be bringing some instruments and necks for you to try, and please feel free to contact us if there is a particular sax neck or accessory you want us to bring.
While we're there, we are available to do small repairs, Uberhaul quotes, and intonation assessments. It's wise to schedule in advance to make sure you have a time reserved with one of our technicians. Write Sara@MusicMedic.com.
Curt and the Sax ProShop team will be presenting a short lecture on Adolphe Sax #36, which will be performed on by the inimitable Dr. Paul Cohen. The lecture will cover the history of this fabled instrument, its connection to the Buescher and Rascher families, and the extensive restoration process it underwent in order to be preserved and enjoyed by saxophonist for decades and even centuries to come.
There will also be a panel discussion with repair technicians to talk about exciting new developments in saxophone repair and answer questions from the audience.
No tickets or advanced registration necessary for the International Saxophone Symposium, as it is free and open to the public. More information is available at http://www.navyband.navy.mil/saxophone_symposium.html .
We've never heard of a symposium with so many repair folks and certainly never one so busy with two lectures, repairs and a booth! Come say hello to Jeff, Sara, Ryan, and Curt!
We hope to see you this weekend!
